About Riga

Riga is the capital of Latvia and is the largest city in the Baltic. The port of Riga is an important part of the city's development and history, and was used for international trade between the Baltic Sea and the Black Sea as early as the 5th century. In the 12th century a small village, that is now Riga, was created on the river bank. The location provided a natural port and shelter for cargo and passenger shipping. The city is located on both banks of the river Daugava, which seperates the city in to two sections; the Vecriga (Old Riga) and Pardaugava.

Each Tallink vessel provides a wide range of modern onboard facilities including restaurants, bars, disco, business lounges, wireless internet connections, TVs, shops and children's play areas. Whether you are on holiday or a business trip Tallink offers a fantastic onboard service.

Riga port facilities

Riga port offers tourist information and a terminal building alongside shops, restaurants and cafes. There are also toilet facilities available.

    unexpectedly enjoyable means of travel
    • The experience of walking to,and finding, the terminal, queueing and discovering that the berths were unisex and we'd be sleeping separately in bunks with strangers were unsettling. The signage at the port was poor. We found the terminal building in advance, but it was closed on the day no guidance, no personnel to help find the ship. The walk to the newer terminal was lengthy, unpleasant, and felt unsafe. However, the officers on board kindly transferred us to a double cabin. On return, the young woman at Riga check was equally helpful. The double cabins were cosy and comfortable. The cruise was a delight, sailing through the Swedish archipelago at sunset, views from sundeck. Romantika exceeded our expectations, plenty of opportunities for dining and relaxing. facilties for children and families great. When my husband left his electronic reader in the cabin, the young man at the Stockholm check in got it back

Nice ferry from convenient ports in each city.
    • I booked online and printed off the confirmation email. I was in Stockholm and took the metro to Gardet. The walking sign posts to the terminal are superb. Check in was straight forward and I was given a boarding card to get on to the ferry and into the cabin. Boats to Riga and Helsinki leave around the same time so boarding process is a bit congested but doesn't take too long to get on board. The only problem was the cabin car wouldn't access the cabin and it took a few replacements to get it sorted. The cabin was a standard cabin, with no window but perfectly adequate and comfortable. I didn't have breakfast and it's an easy walk to Riga centre and old town

    Great trip
    • Great experience. The only thing is that we had to wait for check in for more than 30 minutes due to slow check in process. We couldnt use self check in as the code was not provided when buying through aferry. But overall it was great trip.

    beautifull cruise!
    • We would have liked more informations about public transports from the city center. It's a long walk from the underground station.
